ISSUES

  • With the rise of politics in our classrooms and schools, it has become more important than ever to amplify the voice of our parents and defend their rights to raise their children.

I believe that it is the responsibility of parents to teach their children the morals and principles they believe are best and that it is the responsibility of the education system to teach our children the academic skills necessary to couple with those morals and principles to succeed in life.

I will always be an advocate for Maricopa County parents and make sure that the radical politics infesting our education system are opposed and rooted out of our educational system.

  • The war between traditional public schools and alternative schools must stop. Our children and their academic success must always come first.

We must also accept that the “one size fits all” approach to education will not work because every child learns differently and has different needs.

As Maricopa County School Superintendent, I will dedicate myself to supporting all our schools and hold them to the highest standard to ensure every student in the county gets the best education so they can meet the challenges in their lives successfully and with confidence they’ve earned.

No parent should be made to feel bad for making the best choices for their child and putting them into a different school that works best for them.

  • The taxpayers of Maricopa County deserve to know that the education system they are paying for is being properly managed and that their tax dollars aren’t being wasted or improperly spent.

I am committed to a fully transparent and accountable office that will be answerable to the taxpayers.

As I’ve done as the Vice President and President of the East Valley Institute of Technology, I will ensure that fiscal mismanagement is stopped and that the taxpayers are no longer on the hook for poor decisions that have left us with a multimillion dollar unaccounted for budget hole.

With the majority of our tax dollars going to education, I am committed to creating a “user friendly” office that makes it easy to track where the dollars are going and eliminate wasteful spending.

  • Our children deserve an education that will empower them to be successful in life after school.

The first thing we have to do as parents and education leaders is focus on getting the radical politics out of our classrooms and schools. Our schools need to focus on the academic success of our children and not forcing a political ideology on our children.

I will never tolerate any attempt to bring the radical policies of Critical Race Theory, Diversity/Equity/Inclusion, Gender Studies, or any other “woke academic policy” into our classrooms that teaches students that they are better or worse because of their skin color.

Boys and girls will be protected because we recognize the difference between them and I will always fight to protect girls’ sports from those who want to allow biological boys to compete against our female athletes.

  • For too long, our education system has been turned into a battle between parents and teachers. Our education system was best when parents and teachers were on the same page about doing what was best for our children. Our best schools today still maintain a healthy and productive relationship between the parent and the teacher.

I am committed to working school district by school district to rebuild that relationship where necessary. We can no longer continue to blame one side or the other for the failures in our system. We must come together to save our children.

I firmly believe that parents and teachers are the core foundation that help build our children into successful adults in the future. It is the combination of morals and principles taught by parents and the academics taught by teachers that will put our children in a good place.

If parents and teachers work together, our children will have the greatest chances for success in life when they graduate and enter adulthood.

  • As a teacher for more than a decade, I have seen my fair share of teachers and activists in Arizona classrooms.

We must support the men and women in our classrooms who are doing their best to teach our children and give them the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life after school.

The men and women in our schools who wish to advocate for political agendas at the expense of our children’s education must be stopped and removed from the classroom as quickly as possible.

Our children need to learn how to read and write and do math and critically think, not learn about the sexual habits of their teachers or who the teacher believes is a good president or whether a student and their parents embody evil racist tendencies because of their skin color.

I am committed to empowering schools in Maricopa County to support and encourage our teachers while holding political activists with a teaching certificate accountable for their actions.

  • Among the most important responsibilities of the Maricopa County School Superintendent is to appoint individuals to a school board when a vacancy exists.

For too long we have had serious and concerned parents and community leaders ignored for such appointments in favor of personal and political appointments that have led to school boards that are disconnected from their communities in terms of concerns and values.

I am committed to creating a vetting system rooted in community involvement where concerned parents, teachers, and administrators are heard. I will always make a community aware of a vacancy in their district and not use a political calculator to make my decision.

Every individual who wants to serve their community and put our children’s education first will be fairly heard from and respected. Each community will be treated with respect and dignity when it comes to the incredible responsibility of filling a school board vacancy.
